  • About me

    My name is Hazel Ritchie and I am 23 years old. I have graduated from the University of Canterbury with a bachelors of Primary Teaching. I currently live in the beautiful garden city, Christchurch.

  • My Philosophy

    My passion is inspiring students to understand the joy and excitement in their learning journey. I believe that every child, has uncapped potential. My role as an educator and in general, is to help children realize their full potential and what this means for them.

  • Purpose

    What is my purpose as an educator?

    Answer: To inspire children to develop their skills in a range of subjects through enjoyable and engaging resources. When children are playing these games, they are working on their fine motor skills, brainstorming/ generating ideas and their imagination (as well as meeting the New Zealand curriculum standards). Some of these activities put children in a position where they can imagine different aspects of the world. The activity called 'Build a city' asks students to call on their knowledge of the society they live in. They need to think about what structures such as businesses, houses, playgrounds and rivers their town/city has and how they can create their own city based on their knowledge of the world they live in.

    Each resource is designed to teach children that learning is an exciting journey that'll have their eyes twinkling with curiosity at every step of the way.

We are dedicated to providing resources that support the well-being and holistic care of our learners. By nurturing students' curiosity, a deep, almost spiritual desire to learn and grow becomes embedded in the educational process. Miss Ritchie's Resources has a drive to provide a harmoniously balanced learning style that rejuvenates learners.

    The inclusion of a dedicated webpage and new resources for Te Reo and social education ensures that content is available to connect customers with Māori language and cultural values. This supports a deeper sense of identity, belonging, and spiritual awareness (Wairuatanga) for those seeking such resources.

    Miss Ritchie’s resources promotes Kotahitanga (unity, collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose) through its focus on collective wellbeing, culturally responsive resources, and an inclusive design philosophy. Miss Ritchie’s Resources values its resources for social and emotional learning alongside Te Reo resources. This combination fosters Kotahitanga by developing skills like empathy, communication, and self-management, which are essential for successful collaboration and building strong relationships (whanaungatanga) within a group or community.

    By actively validating Te Ao Māori (the Māori world) through dedicated Te Reo resources, our brand works to unify different cultures and perspectives, aligning with the concept of Kotahitanga as a movement toward solidarity on a shared, non-tribal basis.

    Miss Ritchie’s Resources aims to attract customers seeking Te Reo and social/emotional resources, establishing a shared sense of purpose among users (educators, parents, and children) who value biculturalism, inclusion, and holistic development. The resources are designed to promote working together ("mahi tahi") and acknowledging the contributions of all, which is the core of unity in a learning environment.

    Miss Ritchie's Resources promotes Kaitiakitanga (guardianship and protection of the natural environment) by embedding principles of cultural responsibility and interdependence within its content and design. Our focus on social and emotional resources encourages the development of responsible, empathetic citizens who understand their place and impact within their community and environment. This foundational emotional literacy supports the active and responsible care that is central to Kaitiakitanga.

    The Inclusion of resources for Te Reo Māori helps to introduce or reinforce the Māori worldview (Te Ao Māori), which views people as deeply interconnected with the natural world (taiao). Miss Ritchie’s resources are committed to creating te reo Māori resources and resources with an emphasis on learning alongside nature.
